Noah's Ark Stationery and Baby Shower Announcements.

History: The story of Noah's ark is the biblical record of one man who was living righteously in a time of great wickedness and corruption among the inhabitants of the Earth. The account of Noah's ark can be found in Genesis chapters 6-9 in the bible. God told Noah that he would flood the earth to cleanse it of the wickedness and commanded Noah to build an ark to protect his family and other living things from being destroyed. Noah warned the people for 120 years that the flood was coming. During that time Noah built a large ship called the ark. (The word ark comes from the Latin word arca, meaning a chest, box, or coffer. In Europe ark used to mean a chest or closed basket for storing valuables or other goods.) Noah prepared for the flood as God had instructed him, and took into the ark his family, birds and animals, seeds and food enough to keep them alive and to repopulate the earth. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. The water rose above the highest mountains, but the ark and its cargo floated safely amid the storm. Many days after the rain stopped the flood waters dropped enough that Noah's ark was able to rest on the mountains of Ararat. Noah let loose a raven which did not return. Then Noah sent a dove which returned because it could find no place to perch. Later Noah sent the dove out again and it returned with an olive branch in its mouth. The third time he sent out the dove it did not return. When the ground was dry Noah, his family, and all the animals came out of the ark to begin a new life. God promised Noah that he would never send another flood to destroy the earth. He made the rainbow a sign of that promise.

The story of Noah's ark can be used to illustrate faith, obedience, hard work, preparedness, and keeping promises. The story also shows how it can be difficult but rewarding to do the right thing even when everyone around you isn't and is mocking you for it.

There is great debate in the world about the reality of the story of Noah's ark. Most ancient cultures have a story about a big flood. It is interesting to compare the stories from culture to culture. The Sumerian, Babylonian (Epic of Gilgamesh), Akkadian (Atrahasis Epic), Chaldean, Hebrew, (Genesis), Greek, Germanic, Irish, Aztec, Inca, Maya, Hopi, ,Caddo, Menominee, Mi'kmaq, China, India, Indonesia, and Polynesian cultures all have a story of a great flood. Archaeologists have found evidence that a large flood or deluge occurred on the earth at one time. Today researchers continue to search for evidence or ruins of Noah's ark.

In the contemporary circle of things, Noah's Ark is a popular theme for babies and baby showers, especially when parents are expecting twins. There are countless Noah's Ark themed toys, books and songs for children. “Noah's Ark” is also frequently used in connection with companies from charities to organic food producers, animal farms, moving & storage companies, fun centers, rafting trip companies, and artists.
